The Nest
Every morning at Queensgate, we offer a safe space for children who are having difficulties accessing the classroom – we have called this The Nest.
As our Nurture Suite is based on the upper floor, it feels like it sits among the trees giving the children a beautiful view of the nature and wildlife.
The name "The Nest" aligns perfectly with this - evoking images of safety, comfort, and nurturing. It conveys the idea of a warm, welcoming space where students can find solace and support and also allows for
- Emphasis on the nurture element of the Nurture Suite
- Focus on a growth mindset
- Adding an element of aspiration
- Fostering more positive associations
The main aim of The Nest is to aid and encourage the children to be ready socially and emotionally to enable them to re-join their friends in their classroom.
During the morning sessions the children access different activities: Forest Club, playing Taking Turns Games, Team Building, Sensory Circuit, Outside Learning, Benji Time and ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistance)
Within The Nest (and throughout Queensgate) the children are encouraged to convey and manage their feelings through the Zones of Regulation.
