Queensgate Foundation Primary School has many facilities, which enhance the curriculum that we offer. We have many facilities that other primary schools do not have. There are 15 spacious classrooms including a large Foundation Stage Unit with a well-developed outdoor area so that the children can explore outside as well as inside the classroom. There is a specialist music room and practise rooms for peripatetic lessons. Music is an important part of our Curriculum and we have a music specialist teaching two days a week. We are proud to have a cookery suite. This is a well- used resource and the children all have opportunity to cook across each academic year. They are confident to be able to cook a three course meal by the time they leave Year 6. We complement our cookery courses by growing our own fruit and vegetables in our many growing areas and greenhouse.
We have a very well stocked library and encourage children to read as much as possible. We also have a seaside themed reading garden at the front of the school, which was created by the children in partnership with English Heritage.
There is a Key Stage 1 ICT suite and all ICT is embedded in the Key stage 2 classrooms through the use of laptops. The classrooms all have access to iboards or smart boards.
There is a very strong PE department with excellent facilities and much competitive sport. Queensgate Foundation Primary School is successful within the Island sporting scene.
In addition we own two school mini buses, which means we are able to run an Out and About Curriculum. Children go Out and About around the Island to enhance their learning around the themes of heritage, maritime and environment. We use this work to provide real life writing for experiences for the children too. This work supports our raising attainment agenda.
